HCR.20.002 – Biological and Social Mechanisms in Addiction Recovery and Treatment (B-SMART)

Route: Health care research, sickness prevention and treatment

Cluster question: 083 How do neurological, psychiatric, and mental disorders arise, and how can we prevent, mitigate, or cure them?

We will build bridges between biomedical and social sciences to battle the most harmful and costly addictions in our society: tobacco and alcohol addiction. A better understanding of the interplay between social and biological factors will lead to both scientific breakthroughs and societal changes: i.e. more effective and personalized treatments.
